It takes a special kind of resilience to succeed in the music business with its many hurdles. It takes hundreds of hours spent in damp, cold, egg-box clad garages rehearsing every beat, every single note of that magic 210 seconds;
3 and a half minutes that can be the difference between success and failure, between stardom and "who"?
Our commitment is to make those hundreds of hours an enjoyable experience. Forget the egg-boxes, The Madhouse is a purpose built 12 room facility in the heart of Birmingham designed by musicians with fellow players in mind. For instance, all our rooms are on one level and feature foot operated locking mechanisms on each external door. (If you've never had to hump your backline up 4 flights of stairs only to have to prop the door open with a vintage Gibson you probably won't appreciate the importance of this, but you will).
All our rooms are fitted with exactly the same, brand new, backline. So, if you love the sound in room 2, but can't get it at the time slot you require, no problem! The sound in room 6 is (almost) identical.
And even if you're new to all this, don't be put off! The Madhouse is a place for musicians of all abilities and genres, owned and run by Roy & Jaci Davis . Our friendly and experienced staff are always on hand to help you out setting up and getting started (some have spent years on the road doing exactly that for top artists, so it's unlikely you'll have a problem they can't help you with) We also stock a full range of spares, all the kind of things that have the habit of breaking during a rehearsal like strings and sticks.
Your safety always comes first with us. Madhouse Rehearsal Studios has full public liability, and all of the correct health and safety regulations. All of our plug sockets have a built in circuit breaker, a device that will disconnect the ac supply if the current flow in the active (live) conductor is not exactly matched by that in the neutral, so you're always safe from an electric shock.
We've already told you The Madhouse was designed by musicians with musicians in mind, but it's worth mentioning that this philosophy goes beyond the technical. It's the spirit of The Madhouse and the biggest difference between us and our competition. We actively encourage the musical community to use The Madhouse as a place to get together, plan gigs, and share things like ideas and all that useful information that we've picked up during our careers.
We also encourage education, as we firmly believe that the best place to learn to be a true musician or performer is a place that is full of them. Where else would you find so many musicians in one place? Well, a Madhouse of course..... |
